They are now experts in gender responsive budgeting, gender auditing, gender and climate change and gender-based violence. They are now ready to bring their know-how to these different sectors. Indeed, after a nine-month training in Gender Engineering, 58 men and women received their certificate during a ceremony organized by the UNESCO Chair "Water, Women and Decision-Making Power" in the auditorium of the French Institute du Plateau on December 10, 2022.
This framework had been sold out for this graduation ceremony of the fifth promotion of gender engineering experts. Personalities and not the least were present. These include the head of the Unesco office Oumar Diop, Dr Titi Palé, commercial, marketing and communication director, representative, Hien Sié, general manager of the autonomous port of Abidjan, sponsor of this fifth promotion of engineering training of the kind. It should also be noted the presence of Myss Belmonde Dogbo, Minister of Solidarity and the Fight against Poverty, also an expert in gender engineering, member of this promotion. And of course Mrs. Euphrasie Kouassi Yao, holder of the Unesco Chair “Water, Women and decision-making power”, responsible for this training. The 58 people trained all responded, supported by their parents, relatives and friends.
“You have chosen excellence. And you have recognized that training in Gender Engineering is the path to excellence,” Euphrasie Yao told them, congratulating them for having made this choice. Because being a friend of excellence means always seeking to do better and more. Some hold positions at the highest level. But the love of excellence has led them to strengthen their skills to more effectively meet challenges in the professional world, both in the private and public sectors.
The representative of the sponsor of the ceremony noted the importance that the Director General of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan attaches to gender issues through his actions for the empowerment of women.
The Unesco Chair “Water, Women and Decision-Making Power” was officially launched on May 25, 2008 in Côte d'Ivoire. And Euphrasie Kouassi Yao is the holder of this chair, one of the axes of development of which is training. The Gender Engineering education program is delivered 80% online.
