The regional pilot phase of the compendium of women's skills of Côte d'Ivoire (COCOFCI) was launched on Thursday in Bouaké, to take into account women in rural and peri-urban areas of the Gbêkê region.
At the launching ceremony the special adviser of the President of the Republic in charge of gender, coordinator of COCOFCI, Mrs. Euphrasia Kouassi Yao urged women to join the program by presenting the criteria to be fulfilled. It is especially for any contender to be better in her profession, to be a woman who contributes to the development of her family and her community, who agrees to share her experience, which contributes to the consolidation of peace and social cohesion.
The woman must embody, among others, values such as love, loyalty, solidarity and be bold.
She also announced the benefits that the program offers to women namely, honor, rewards, recognition, project funding opportunities by partners and contribution to the development of the region.
The compendium of women's skills in Côte d'Ivoire (COCOFCI) was summarized in 10 points. It is a women's skills enhancement program, a directory, a decision support tool, a network of opportunities for all women, a way to reduce the inequality between women and men. men and a nursery of young leaders and entrepreneurs.
"Believe in this program that has moved to your camps," said Euphrasie Kouassi, who wants to reach women in the most remote areas.
A selection committee has been set up and its focal points are members of the prefectural body, village and community leaders. Women fulfilling the criteria can register with Focal Points and can also be nominated by members of their community.
The program will roll out to other regions after this pilot launch phase.
The authorities in particular, the prefect of the Gbêkê region and the mayor of Bouaké, Djibo Nicolas, have welcomed the regionalization of the compendium and supported the call for women's membership launched by the coordinator.
In view of the results achieved, the government set up the Compendium of Women's Competences of Côte d'Ivoire (COCOFCI) as a national program in March 2016. To this end, a project entitled "national deployment of the Compendium" in the regions and districts of the country has been developed.
